How to Nominate

If you know a talented SF prep athlete or a major contributor to SF Prep sports who deserves the recognition and acknowledgment for their achievement, submit their names for consideration to the San Francisco Prep Hall of Fame. The process is incredibly easy.

Fill out the Nomination Form and send it back prior to September 1st to be considered for the following year
Our Board of Directors meets in October to nominate and in November to vote on the nominees.
Please also include a 1.5” x 1.5” picture of the nominee, either from high school or a present-day picture.

Who Can Be Nominated

Nominees for the SAN FRANCISCO PREP HALL OF FAME include four categories: athlete, coach, official, and media person, with a fifth category of special recognition for distinguished service. The nominees once inducted are not categorized, but rather all are recognized as a member of the SAN FRANCISCO PREP HALL OF FAME.

Officials

The nominee must have officiated in the San Francisco high school athleticprogram for a minimum of ten (10) years. Each candidate must have an outstanding career as an official and also must be complimented by an exemplary career in the individual’s profession and community involvements, a record which reflects credit to a person as a citizen with strong leadership qualities and character.

Coaches

The nominee must have worked at a secondary level in San Francisco and must have coached a minimum of ten (10) years. Each candidate must merit consideration on the basis of uppermost moral and ethical standards in the performance and responsibilities regarding the development of athletes (citizenship, sportsmanship, and skills), coaching records, championships, awards, and honors, along with professional affiliations, achievements and contributions to the prep sports program.

Athletes

The nominee must have attended a San Francisco high school after 1914 and must have graduated at least five (5) years before becoming eligible for consideration. Each candidate must exemplify the highest standards in athletic skill, sportsmanship, ethical behavior, moral character, and leadership. All candidates will be judged on their influence and or contribution to the San Francisco interscholastic athletic program and not post high school achievement.

Media

The nominee must have been involved with the writing, broadcasting, or televising the promotion of San Francisco high school athletics fora minimum of ten (10) years. Each candidate will be judged on the merits of the individual’s contributions to the San Francisco prep sports program.

Special Recognition

This category is for the nomination of people in an activity that was not offered in interscholastic competition during their years of attendance in the San Francisco high schools, or to an individual who has contributed to the well being of the total program in San Francisco high school athletics. The nominee must fulfill the high standards of sportsmanship, ethical behavior, moral character, and leadership that exemplifies their contributions to the San Francisco prep sports program.

If anyone who falls into one of these categories, and meets all requirements, then please nominate the individual without any hesitation.. Just submit this form, fill out in complete detail, provide documentation of accomplishments (such as from newspapers, yearbooks, letters, photographs, etc).We especially need contact information on the individual, and if deceased, then how to contact a close family member

Special Recognition

To make sure that everyone who made a contribution to the San Francisco prep sports program. This category accepts nominations of those who participated in an activity that was not offered in interscholastic competition during their years of attendance in a San Francisco high school. San Francisco Prep Hall of Fame also accepts nominations for candidates have contributed to the well-being of the total program in San Francisco high school athletics.
